Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson believes new signing Emre Can is capable of making it at Anfield.
A deal for the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been questioned by the likes of Jan Aage Fjortoft.
But Lawro wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "I haven't seen much of the German under-21 international, but I'm told he is a real industrious midfielder who has the ability to run at and take on opposing players.
"We should, however, be encouraged this was a player Bayern Munich were quite keen to include a buy-back clause in his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen last year.
"That shows they believe Can has talent, and their loss will, hopefully, be Liverpool's gain.
"Can may only be 20 but he has more Champions League experience than half of the current Reds squad having appeared for Leverkusen last season.
"But with so many midfielders in the squad, something has to give."
