Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has slammed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over his pursuit of Luis Suarez.

Wenger has been told he needs to pay £50m for the forward and cheekily offered £40m plus a quid to trigger a release clause.

Lawro said: "A lot of people are wondering what Arsenal are playing at with their bids for Suarez.

"I'll tell you. They are trying to get him on the cheap!

"Arsene Wenger bangs on about having money to spend but the reality is he doesn't like spending it."
