Liverpool legend Keegan: Gerrard can take over from Ancelotti

Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan has tipped Italian Carlo Ancelotti to become the next manager of the club, with Steven Gerrard to step in afterwards.

Keegan hopes that the Italian boss, who was released by Real Madrid in the summer, can come in to Anfield and replace Brendan Rodgers who was sacked on Sunday.

Keegan, who starred for the Reds during the 1980s, is also hoping that former Liverpool captain Gerrard will eventually succeed Ancelotti and become manager himself one day.

The former Reds star told beIN Sports: "I would like Ancelotti with Gerrard coming in when he has finished in America with a view to him taking over the job maybe in two, three or however many years.

"That would be the perfect scenario. Second, (Jurgen) Klopp. I don't think there is anyone else other than those two."
