Liverpool legend Craig Johnston has given the appointment of Roy Hodgson as new manager his thumbs up.
Johnston has known Hodgson for 20 years and reckons that the comparisons between he and Sir Bobby Robson are remarkable.
Johnston, who won 10 major honours in seven years on Merseyside, said: "I sat next to him on a flight when he was manager of Halmstad. At the time, I had no idea who he was.
"We got chatting and he was an absolute gentleman.
"He was a world away from the brash, shut-up-and-do-as-you're-told style of many managers back then and a real deep thinker - a footballing philosopher in many ways.
"Roy's very similar to how Sir Bobby was - well respected by everyone in the game, dignified in how he goes about the job and very successful.
"I followed Roy's career after that meeting and we've spoken in countless different countries over the years.
"I've always been impressed by how open-minded he is to things like sports science and technology. Basically, he's just a bright guy, very articulate and a great appointment for Liverpool right now."
