Hansen says manager Arsene Wenger needs defensive signings ahead of strikers.
He wrote in the Telegraph: "Arsenal's frailties at the back are nothing new, we have been talking about them for years now, but despite having serious money to spend this summer, Wenger has done nothing to rectify the issues that continue to let his team down.
"I look at each of Arsenal's defenders and their goalkeeper and rate them all as nothing more than 'maybe' players. None of them are top quality, the type of characters who will take charge of a game on the pitch and direct and dictate to their team-mates.
"And with such a brittle back four, you would think that Wenger would have recruited a proper defensive midfielder to act as a destroyer and ball-winner, but he has also overlooked that key area this summer."
