Liverpool legend Alan Hansen has questioned the optimism around England's Euros campaign.
He wrote in the Telegraph: "On the pitch, England have fallen short again when faced with technically superior opponents, but the team are still playing 4-4-2, which is an obsolete system.
"And when we talk of unearthing the next generation and giving them the chance to take the team forward, who are those players?
"Beyond Jack Wilshere, who has now been out for a year through injury, the rest of them are still 'maybes' and one or two others are 'maybe nots'. There are many flaws which have contributed to England's failings over the years, but it really is not a case of identifying the key issues because everybody knows what they are."
