Liverpool legend Alan Hansen feels selling Wayne Rooney would be a huge gamble by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Hansen wrote in the Telegraph: "When the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam, David Beckham and Roy Keane were moved on by Ferguson, their best days were behind them.
"Rooney is 27, though, not a 31-year-old on the wane, and I still believe that his departure from Old Trafford would only be welcomed by rival managers and supporters.
"But despite Sir Alex's insistence that there is no issue with Rooney, the Manchester United manager's recent use of the player suggests the opposite and I can only see him leaving the club.
"Wayne is still popular with the United supporters and his team-mates, but something has clearly gone wrong between him and Ferguson and the current situation feels like the beginning of the endgame."
