Liverpool legend Grobbelaar: Why did we let Spurs pair Keane, Crouch leave?
Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar can't believe Rafa Benitez allowed Tottenham strikers Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane to leave the club.
Grobbelaar can see Spurs dumping Liverpool from the top four this season.
He told TalkSport: “Tottenham are doing a fantastic job. Harry Redknapp always does something. We call him ‘Harry Houdini’, because he gets the best out of his players. Now, Rafa’s got two ex-Liverpool strikers there – Crouch and Keane – why didn’t he keep them here?”
On this weekend's derby at Everton, he added: “David Moyes will actually get his team fired up. They’ve got all the injuries coming back, Steven Pienaar, the South African, he’ll be knocking on the door to play on Sunday and it’s going to be an interesting game on Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, I think that we’ve just got the upper hand, but Merseyside derbies, things happen.”

Simple answer - Foreign Managers buy foreign players - look at Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. British Managers buy British - ManUtd, Spurs, Villa. Exception to the rule is ManCity but Hughes had Soooo much money. I know that is very simplistic but how many British players are in the Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverool squads compared to those of ManUtd/Spurs/Villa. If the new regulations come in he first three will be in serious trouble, the other three should have no problems and may even be able to get in more overseas talent.
If they qualify for CL. Of Course.
Liverpool will buy Crouch back in the summer because the new rule next year in CL with 6 english players and 5 from other countries.
