Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has declared Mohamed Salah the best African player ever seen in the Premier League.

Salah, who won last year's African Player of the Year, has had a phenomenal season for the Reds so far, having scored 32 goals in 38 appearances.

Gerrard made the bold claim when asked on BT Sport if Salah is the greatest African footballer to have played in the Premier League.

"It's a tough one," Gerrard answered. "Yes, probably.

"I think you have to wait to see how he finishes the season, but if he continues to get goals and set a record, then you have to say yes."
