Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes the club's academy players have it too easy.
Gerrard says Liverpool's talented youngsters should be given extra responsibilities and duties around the club's training complex in order for them to develop as people as well as footballers.
"I think what is missing is that little bit of responsibility when you first leave school," Gerrard told Football Focus.
"They still should have the job routine and that bit of responsibility of certain jobs around the dressing room.
"I felt that helped me as a player and also as a person as well.
"Even though you're preparing to become a professional footballer, you've still got to try and be humble and have that responsibility within the team.
"I think the players get a lot more a lot quicker nowadays but I'd be a lot bitter if I complained about that. I've had my time, good luck to them all."
