Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is in Townsville for talks with North Queensland Fury. Fowler made a low-key entry where he was met by North Queensland Fury chief executive Dean Hassall and media manager Brett Judge before being whisked away to his hotel.
Fowler was looking trim and fit, but declined talking to media after the gruelling flight from the UK.
His early arrival is a coup for the club with officials spending the next few days showing him around Townsville and introducing him to the facilities at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Coach Ian Ferguson is also on his way back to town after a brief holiday break and said he was looking forward to linking up with the star target.
"I know Robbie, I've met him a couple of times socially and I know what kind of guy he is anyway," he told the Townsville Bulletin.
"He is very humbled and very honoured with what he has done in the game, that's the sort of guy he is.
"I want him to get a feel for the city and a look into the lifestyle.
"I also want him to see the training facilities, have a look at where we are playing, the gym, the pools and meet a few people as well so it's going to be quite busy over the next few days."
