Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is happy to see Steven Gerrard working with the academy full-time.

Gerrard was in the frame to kick off a career in management at League One side MK Dons last November but turned down the job because he felt it had come too soon.

Instead, he accepted Jurgen Klopp's offer in January of a role coaching the youngsters at Liverpool - and Fowler reckons that can only be good for the club.

“Steven was brought through by coaches who instilled what it meant to be a Liverpool player, and that will carry on," said the Liverpool goalscoring great.

“I don't know what his plans are in terms of management, but the kids at the academy are being taught by one of the greatest players the club has ever seen."
