Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler says Jamie Carragher should play alongside Chelsea's John Terry at centre-half for England.
Fowler is optimistic about his country's chances in South Africa and does not think losing Rio Ferdinand is a disaster.
Fowler, 35, now at Perth Glory in Australia, said: "Rio is a top-class player and has been a big part for England for years now.
"But we are blessed with a lot of good centre-halves.
"You've got Carragher and you know what you're getting with him.
"He'll never let anyone down if he plays in that position.
"It remains to be seen if Fabio plays him there but you won't go far wrong if you do - and Michael Dawson will do a job if you need him."
