Liverpool legend Dalglish: Wenger shouldn't be taken as granted at Arsenal

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has paid tribute to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger ahead of his 1,000 game landmark. Dalglish wrote in the Mirror: "Arsenal are lucky to have had Arsene Wenger in charge for the last 999 games.

"In the last few years, people have started to take him for granted, but what he has achieved has been remarkable.

"He has not won a trophy for some years, but the Gunners have continued to qualify for the Champions League. If Liverpool do that this season, it will be regarded as a fine achievement.

"People revere Dennis Bergkamp, but Wenger deserves a lot of the credit for reviving his career.

"Look at what he did for Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit and Nicolas Anelka as well.

"Not only could he spot a good player, but he made a lot of money for the club when he sold them. He has rebuilt time and again and spent less money than a lot of other managers while he was doing it."
