Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish is adamant their top four hopes are not over.
At the start of the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur occupy fourth place with Manchester City two points behind in fifth, and both sides have a game in hand on the Reds.
However, Spurs take on Manchester United at Old Trafford while City tackle Arsenal at the Emirates later today - and Dalglish is optimistic points will be dropped before the end of the campaign.
"We aren't in control of our own destiny in the battle for fourth place now. But with all the other teams having to play each other we still have a chance," he told LFC Weekly.
"If we can get our own results right first then we might be able to take advantage of any slip-ups from the others. Spurs go to Old Trafford on Saturday and Man City travel to Arsenal. They still have other tough games after that too.
"The gap between that Champions League spot and ourselves looks large right now. But it's not unreasonable to suggest it will be a lot tighter when it all ends in May."
