Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish says England should just give Manchester United star Wayne Rooney the ball tonight against Ukraine.

Dalglish told the Mirror: "I remember being in Lisbon, watching him play for England against France as an 18-year-old at Euro 2004.

"He was up against William Gallas, who at that time was one of the best defenders in the game.

"Well, by the time Rooney had finished with him, Gallas didn't know whether it was New Year or New York.

"He was absolutely fantastic.

"Against Ukraine in Donetsk, England just have to give him the ball.

"Give him the ball and on you go."
