Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish is happy to hear the news of Jamie Carragher's testimonial later this year.

Liverpool will take on an Everton X1 in September with all proceeds going to Carragher's '23 Foundation' - and Dalglish insists the Reds' defender is fully deserving of an illustrious match in his honour.

"In this day and age it's unusual to be at a club for as long as Carra has," Dalglish told liverpoolfc.tv. "He has been associated with the club on and off since the age of eleven and this testimonial is a fitting reward for the service he has given.

"The money raised is going to a charitable fund to help people less fortunate than himself and that's testimony to the kind of guy he is.

"He deserves all the accolades that come his way and it's fitting that a Liverpool born boy, who was an Everton fan as a kid, is bringing the city's two teams together for this game."
