Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher hopes West Ham deal in manager Slaven Bilic.
Carragher wrote for the Daily Mail: "Talks haven't taken place over a new contract for Bilic but I hope the board don't do anything silly. He is a good manager and circumstances have contributed to this start, such as Winston Reid — a player I hold in high regard — struggling for form and Cresswell's long-term injury.
"West Ham are better than this. They should be comfortably in the top 10 and targeting cup runs, playing football to entertain their fans. They should have left the days behind when they flirted with relegation.
"You cannot ignore, however, how bad this start has been. They have only played one of the top six so far and the defeats they have suffered have been, in the main, against sides that will be down fighting for their lives. West Ham cannot afford for it to continue against Middlesbrough."
