Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is happy with the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as manager.

Carragher is delighted that his former club have secured Klopp's services ahead of Carlo Ancelotti and likened him to Rafa Benitez, insisting the German would fit in at Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona.

"He looks full of life," Carragher told Sky Sports. "With the role at Sky [I have] now, I think he will be great for us, but most importantly he will be great for Liverpool.

"There's no doubt that Liverpool have an A-class manager. In the past there was a fear we couldn't attract players and managers of calibre, but if Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United were looking for a new manager, he would come into the reckoning of all those clubs, so we've done very well to get him on board.

"We haven't got the finances to compete with the top teams at the moment, and the reason you take on Klopp is that he is used to taking on the big boys financially in the transfer market. I think it suits Liverpool a lot more than Carlo Ancelotti, and there are parallels that can be drawn with Rafa Benitez, coming from Valencia.

"He's got a charisma about him, he's got a personality. I think we all saw that at Dortmund, he looked like someone as a player you'd like to play for. His personality and track record will hopefully bring players to the club - maybe some of the players at Dortmund. What players you can attract to the club is a big part of management."
