Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has been closely monitoring the progress of his son.

Carragher travelled to Spain to watch his son represent the Liverpool U12's take part in the Mediterranean International Cup.

The youth tournament is a prestigious one and it attracts over 200 clubs from 36 nations. The current edition is being held at Girona and Carragher holds a keen interest as his son is participating this time around.

The former Liverpool defender was present to cast an eye when Liverpool played CE Merantil this week and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Current Reds stars Philippe Coutinho and Lucas both played in the competition as youngsters. Other big names including Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Neymar, Geard Pique, Oscar and Juan Mata also featured in the competition in the past.
