Liverpool legend John Barnes has paid tribute to former teammate Michael Owen. The Stoke City striker announced plans to retire at the end of the season.
"He was fantastic, you could see from when he was very young that he was always going to score goals," Barnes told talkSPORT.
"You could tell he was going to become a superstar.
"Even in training, you could see Michael was a special player and his character was fantastic.
"You could look at the last few years and say that his career hadn't gone as well as it could have.
"But when you look at his career as a whole and look at the clubs he's played for, the goals he's scored and being named European Footballer of the Year, he's had one of the greatest careers ever."
