Liverpool legend Aldridge worried about Benfica Euro draw

Liverpool icon John Aldridge has concerns facing Benfica in the Europa League quarterfinals.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo wrote: "If you had asked me what three clubs I wanted to avoid I'd have said Benfica, Valencia and Atletico Madrid - so we're certainly in the tougher half of the draw.

"I watched Benfica when they beat Everton and they impressed me immensely. Everyone remembers how they knocked us out of the Champions League back in 2006.

"We didn't give ourselves a chance with the way we played away in the first leg. We didn't attack them, conceded and they rubbed salt into our wounds at Anfield. We owe them one."

Being a huge fan of Benfica, I am inclined to say Liverpool are in trouble. I am a Liverpool supporter in the EPL and to be quite honest you guys do not match up well against us. If Torres or Gerrard are not healthy then it will be game over right from the start. Benfica's Midfield and strikers are superior. The defence in comparison is No match. We are that strong. This team has depth that no other squad in Europe can boast. Their poor showing in the domestic league last season is the only reason we are in the Europa. This truly is a Champion's League squad. If Benfica does not win this cup, it will be a severe letdown. With the likes of Saviola, Cardozo, Garcia, RAmires, Aimar, and the gifted Dimaria sky's the limit.

Regardless, the winner of this tie will win the Europa. Benitez will not survive another season. If any have doubts, watch the Everton games or consult with some of their supporters

I agree with you! After seeing their match against Marseille I think we will need to work very hard to beat them.
