Liverpool legend Aldridge: No surprise if sliding Sturridge is sold

Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes Daniel Sturridge has run his race at Anfield.

It's been suggested Liverpool will sell the striker at the end of this season.

“Klopp needs to resolve the Sturridge problem and it would not be a surprise if he is on his way out of Liverpool after failing to take the chances that have come his way in recent weeks," Aldridge told the Sunday World.

“Here is a striker on a massive wage and he would still be worth a lot of money if he was sold to an English club or even if he was to make a move to Chinese football, where is transfer fee would be massive.

“It's sad to see Sturridge slide the way he has in the last couple of years because he was a top quality striker when he was at his best, but injuries have taken their toll physically and mentally on him and I'm sure Klopp realises he needs to move him on.

“The same may be true of Divock Origi, who showed flashes of promise when he first arrived at Liverpool and now looks like a player who has lost all his confidence.

“In that miserable January when everything went wrong for Liverpool, Klopp needed Sturridge and Origi to come to the party with goals and inspiration, but they provided nothing.

“I believe he needs top spend big on two top quality strikers and that reality will test a variety of areas of Liverpool in a manner that could shape the club for the next few years."
