Liverpool legend John Aldridge doesn't want Luis Suarez sold.

He says the criticism of Suarez's bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has been "over the top".

Aldridge told the Liverpool Echo: "Suarez is a genius but there's madness in him and he needs help. The PFA have offered him anger management classes and he should accept that.

"Yes, he let the club down - but I want Suarez to stay.

"A lot of people won't agree with me and will argue he's damaged the club's reputation once too often but the bottom line is he's absolutely vital to Brendan Rodgers' team.

"'What Suarez did was out of order but some of the criticism has been over the top. Let's not forget, he didn't actually do any damage to Ivanovic. He didn't break the skin. It was like throwing a punch and not landing it."
