Liverpool icon John Aldridge has concerns over the fitness of Andy Carroll.
The Liverpool striker is on the road to full fitness having recently returned from a thigh injury and Aldridge is calling for the Three Lions to err on the side of caution when deciding how to best utilise him in the forthcoming internationals with Wales and Ghana.
"It's a worry for club managers when their players head off on international duty," Aldo told liverpoolfc.tv.
"I can understand Kenny Dalglish urging Fabio Capello not to overexert Andy Carroll.
"Liverpool have taken a lot of time and effort to nurse Carroll back to fitness and don't want that being ruined by England. The club know better than anyone where Carroll is at. International managers and the club need to work together.
"I don't think it's a bad thing that Liverpool have got two weeks without a game. A lot of players will get a rest and hopefully the others will return unscathed."
