Liverpool legend John Aldridge has branded defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday as "the worst".

Aldridge wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "The defeat at Bournemouth was up there with the worst you can have, really.

"With all due respect to Bournemouth, you could come to terms with it if it was one of the top clubs. Fair enough, it can happen. But this doesn't half leave a bitter taste.

"We were cruising at 2-0 and 3-1, but the way it panned out, it reminded me of THAT Crystal Palace game. We did the job we had to do, there was no need to chase the game looking for the fourth goal, and we get punished.

"That's the way Jurgen wants it doing, and that's fine, but I just felt we could have protected the back four a little more."
