Liverpool legend John Aldridge is "surprised" by Raheem Sterling's England call-up.

The 17 year-old was called into Roy Hodgson's squad yesterday.

Aldo told the Liverpool Echo: "Like everyone else I was surprised when I heard Raheem had been called into the full squad.

"He's obviously only in there for experience this time, but I have absolutely no doubt that he will be an England regular in the future, possibly even the near future."
