Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes Luis Suarez can prove himself the best striker in the world this season. Aldridge wrote in the Sunday World: "Luis Suarez is not only the best striker in the Premier League this season - he is threatening to emerge as the finest marksman in the game ahead of next year's World Cup.
"I am not going to suggest he is edging ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the greatest player on the planet, but those two supreme talents are not out-and-out strikers in the Suarez mould.
"While Ronaldo and Messi can do things on a football field most mere mortals don't even think about, Suarez is starting to produce similar miracles on a consistent basis. Some of the performances he has produced since he returned from suspension have been frightening.
"He may only have played five Premier League games so far this season, but he has already established himself as the leading contender for the Golden Boot and, injury permitting, I'm pretty sure he will collect that prize this season.
"If he scores around 25 goals, Liverpool may well be toasting a top-four finish and a Champions League return that would give them a very good chance of hanging on to Suarez."
