Liverpool icon John Aldridge feels former Manchester City attacker Craig Bellamy could prove the signing of the season.
The ex-Red was impressed by the Welshman's cameo in Saturday's defeat at Stoke City and feels he will be an invaluable attacking asset for Kenny Dalglish's side this season.
"I thought Bellamy was brilliant when he came on at Stoke and in the last 25 minutes he was the best player on the park," Aldridge told liverpoolfc.tv.
"He was lively, direct, didn't give the ball away and caused Stoke a lot of problems on the left hand side.
"Bellamy's performance will have certainly given Kenny Dalglish food for thought.
"With Stewart Downing on the right and Bellamy on the left we looked good and really pinned Stoke back.
"Bellamy could prove to be the bargain buy of the summer."
