Liverpool are lining up a £10 million bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.
The Sun says Kop boss Rafa Benitez wants a left-sided midfielder following Harry Kewell's departure and has targeted England star Downing.
The Boro ace was a Spurs target last season.
But Gareth Southgate wants to keep him, especially as Downing was handed a new five-year deal just five months ago.
