Liverpool have launched a bid for the services of Portsmouth right-back Glen Johnson.
The 24-year old is still under contract at Fratton Park but Reds boss Rafael Benitez is believed to be keen to secure the England international.
The asking price by Pompey will be hefty but they still owe Liverpool about £7 million from the transfer of Peter Crouch in the summer.
