Liverpool kids (and Klopp) humbled by Guidolin's rampant Swansea

Liverpool's kids were shown up by Swansea as fans at the Liberty celebrated three goals for the first time in a year today.

Swansea City boss Francesco Guidolin shook up his line-up, making two changes from the side that lost 4-0 to Leicester - Jordi Amat replaced Federico Fernandez, and Jefferson Montero came in for Leroy Fer.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, selected a patchwork XI, making eight changes to the side that drew with Newcastle last time out, handing Pedro Chirivella a Premier League debut in the process.

The line-up was their youngest ever starting XI in the Premier League era: with an average age of 23 years and 218 days.

Swansea quickly set the tone of the day, with Andre Ayew firing the hosts ahead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Ayew was left unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box to thump a header past Danny Ward. Ayew, whose partner gave birth a few days ago, happily celebrated with the obligatory Bebeto-style celebration.

Ward was called into action again five minutes later as he saved Jack Cork's powerful drive. Amat then saw his header loop over the crossbar as Swans had the inexperienced visitors on the rack.

On 33 minutes Swansea were 2-0 ahead. Cork picked up possession halfway up the pitch and drove right at the heart of the Liverpool defence, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren stood off, and Cork curled a delicious effort inside the far post. His first goal for a year.

The halftime whistle blew with the Swans firmly in control.

Klopp reacted immediately during the break, Christian Benteke and Lucas were called up from the bench to replace Philippe Coutinho and Chirivella.

And Benteke delivered the response Klopp was seeking on 65 minutes. The striker shook off Gylfi Sigurdsson at a corner and planted a header beyond Lukasz Fabianski to offer the visitors hope.

But Liverpool were rocked on their heels just two minutes later as Ayew settled the game.

The Reds failed to deal with Cork's cross and Ayew nipped in and to nick the ball off Lovren and find the corner with a low finish. It marked the first time Swansea had scored three goals all season.

Ten minutes later it became worse for Liverpool as fullback Brad Smith was sent off. The Aussie poleaxed Ayew as Swans broke from a corner and ref Roger East sent him off for a second yellow card.

The match ended with Swans, deserved 3-1 winners, pushing for a fourth against a rattled Reds defence.
