Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has undergone successful hernia surgery.

Spanish media sources say Reina travelled to Munich for the procedure.

His surgeon was renowned specialist Dr Ulrike Muschaweck, who operated on fellow goalkeeper Shay Given, of Manchester City, last year.

It was reported that Reina had struggled with the injury for some time but still managed to play every minute of Liverpool's Premier League campaign last season.
