Liverpool keeper Jones eager to grace MCG turf

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones hopes to see action at the MCG tomorrow night against Melbourne Victory.

The goalkeeper missed Saturday's 2-0 win over Indonesia as a precaution but expects to be ready to face the Australian side at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Jones told Liverpoolfc.com: "I went over on my ankle while we were back at Melwood, so I'd been carrying it for a few days. Hopefully it'll be fine.

"It was more precautionary. Obviously in pre-season you don't want to damage anything and be out too long, so we just thought it was best to skip that one and have a few more days to rest. I'm hopeful I'll be 100 per cent by then."

Meanwhile, Jones admits he is relishing the prospect of representing Liverpool on home soil on Wednesday evening.

"It's not something I ever thought I would have done, to be honest," he said. "It's brilliant to come home on a pre-season tour.

"It might have happened a few times in my career - there were talks about it but it never quite happened.

"We've finally got the opportunity and to come here with Liverpool and play at the MCG is brilliant. It'll be a good few days for us and enjoyable."
