Liverpool are interested in Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The Mirror says Goretzka is widely regarded as one of his country's best young players and is tipped to be a future superstar.

The midfielder has just one year remaining on his current Schalke contract and has been linked with Arsenal and Bayern Munich recently.

Liverpool are also fans of the 22-year-old, who starred for Germany in their Confederations Cup victory earlier this summer.

Interestingly, Liverpool will spend the coming days in Germany as part of Jurgen Klopp's scheduled preseason.
