Liverpool icon Thommo: Suarez mixture of Dalglish and Keegan

Liverpool icon Phil Thompson is already impressed by January arrival Luis Suarez, the former Ajax striker.

The Reds legend feels the Uruguayan's arrival was overshadowed by the drama of transfer deadline day but reckons there are already signs that the former Ajax man can be a Barclays Premier League star.

Thompson told liverpoolfc.tv: "Everybody's gone on about Andy Carroll and his £35 million transfer fee but Suarez has come in under the radar. He excites me and he's a player between Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan, that bundle of enthusiasm, I think the fans have really warmed to him.

"Hopefully he can do it for Liverpool, it is early days at the moment though."
