Liverpool hero Jan Molby has dismissed criticism of club icon Jamie Carragher.
Molby wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo: "Every year people who should know better will see Jamie Carragher have a bit of a wobble and start to write him off. Last week's defeat at Tottenham gave those folk further ammunition.
"I don't, however, share their view.
"I must admit I was a little surprised that Liverpool didn't sign a proven centre-back in the summer (though Sebastian Coates is clearly one for the future), but I'm sure Kenny believes he has plenty of options in that area.
"And though the defence did get found out somewhat at White Hart Lane last Sunday, that sort of thing can happen when you are reduced to ten, and then nine, men.
"For three years now, we have been told that Jamie is slowing, he is coming to the end of his time.
"I think such talk is premature.
"Those who claim he drops too deep are the ones worried about his pace on the turn. You can't have it both ways.
"I am sure Kenny is more than capable of handling Jamie, and I am sure Jamie knows his situation better than anyone."
