In his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo wrote: "He’s been unlucky so far with that red card and injuries preventing him from putting together a run of games.
"But no more excuses. Liverpool are paying him top money and want a return on their investment.
"Cole is a quality player and you don’t lose that ability.
"I feel a bit sorry for him because I don’t think the left side of midfield is his best position. I’d love to see the manager play him behind Fernando Torres for three or four games.
"Just say to him ‘show us what we’ve been waiting for’.
"Creative players like Cole and Fernando Torres can be match-winners. We need them to get their heads right and stay injury free.
"Come on Joe, we know you haven’t become a bad player overnight.
"Let’s have it now. Your club needs you."
