Liverpool hoping to tie up Chelsea's Bertrand

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen on soon securing a deal for Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.

The Liverpool Echo suggests that the Reds are determined to finalise a £8million transfer for the 24-year old but it has been speculated that Chelsea are reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival.

Rodgers knows Bertrand well from their days together in the Blues' youth academy and sees him as a much more money-friendly left-back option to Sevilla's Alberto Moreno who is valued at around £20m.

Liverpool are in the market for a new left-sided full-back and were recently linked with Ben Davies prior to his move from Swansea City to Tottenham on Wednesday afternoon so will now focus on Bertrand who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
