Liverpool hopeful Stewart relieved he has proved he belongs

Liverpool youngster Kevin Stewart was delighted to show off his talents with the first team.

Stewart has impressed for the Liverpool first team during cup competitions and the 22-year-old put in another very good performance during the Reds' 2-1 FA Cup defeat against West Ham United on Tuesday night.

Full-back turned defensive midfielder Stewart is thrilled to have made a mark for the Liverpool first team and the former Tottenham outcast believes that he is now showing everyone that he can perform at the highest level.

The former Swindon Town loanee said: "I've waited a very long time for this so it's a bit of relief to finally show what I can do.

"Most of my career, the games I've played well in have been against younger players and players my age.

"It's nice to prove to myself I can cope with the Premier League players and do well against them. It makes it much more competitive and I think I thrive in competitive situations.

"When a lot of players come back to fitness, we need to fight more, and I think that's why I'm going to improve."
