Liverpool hero Phil Thompson believes their Champions League tie with Real Madrid is set up perfectly for Fernando Torres.
"There are a few things in Liverpool's favour," he said. "Rafa Benitez will be heading back home, and Torres is bound to be fired up after being denied the chance to face his old club. He will be relishing going back to Madrid and really looking forward to trying to put one over Real.
"Being at home in the return leg is important as well, and I think Liverpool will have too much for them at Anfield. It could be another of those special nights, and I'm really looking forward to it.
"It is a wonderful tie, and it brings back memories of that '81 final. The all whites against the all reds. Great stuff.
"The only thing that concerns me is you don't know what Real will be like, come February. If it was now, I would say absolutely no problem, but Juande Ramos has got a couple of months to work on them and could change things. I still fancy Liverpool to go through, though."
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star Steve McManaman also said: "You know how Liverpool will set out, with one up front and playing patiently and precisely. But when Torres is that lone striker, and Real are the opposition, you can expect things to happen.
"When he was at Atletico, Real were the enemy, the hated other team, and it really does have the makings of something special when he steps out at the Bernabeu. It will be the same at Anfield, too, and I can't imagine either game will exactly be lacking in atmosphere."
