Liverpool hero Jan Molby has warned manager Brendan Rodgers off Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 25, missed out on England World Cup duty after getting crocked.

Molby told the Daily Star Sunday: "Bony would be a better option than Rodriguez, who in my opinion is not the natural goalscorer they want.

"And, still injured, he wouldn't be fit to play until a few months into the season. He probably wouldn't be near top form until the new year."
