Liverpool hero Steve McManaman is surprised Steven Gerrard took the Rangers job.
McManaman spoke about his former team-mate's appointment as manager of the Scottish side after being asked whether he ever saw Gareth Southgate becoming England manager.
“You don't have to be a big shouter or a big communicator to be a leader," he told the ESPN FC podcast.
“Gareth was always a leader in the teams he played in so it doesn't surprise me in the least that he's become a manager.
“Steven Gerrard was quiet in the dressing room.
“If you had him or Jamie Carragher, you always say Jamie Carragher would be the manager because he was the big, loud communicator.
“Steven was a little bit more reserved."
