Liverpool hero McAteer: Ronaldo PSG move could impact Sturridge future

Former Liverpool star Jason McAteer believes that Cristiano Ronaldo's potential move to PSG could impact Daniel Sturridge's future.

Following another frustrating season, Sturridge is widely expected to be leaving Liverpool this summer and a move to PSG has been claimed as a possibility for the England international by various media outlets.

Recently, there has been speculation that 'unhappy' Real Madrid star Ronaldo could be set for a move to PSG as well.

And ex-Liverpool star Jason McAteer believes that if indeed the Portuguese superstar ends up joining the French giants, Sturridge's prospective move to the French capital will be put under jeopardy.

"I have heard West Ham want to sign him, but my personal opinion is that Daniel would thrive at somewhere like PSG," McAteer told The Sunday Mirror.

"Playing with superstars like Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria would suit his game. In France, he would also be out of the constant spotlight.

"The stumbling block would be the fee and whether Liverpool get the £40million they want for him, which remains to be seen.

"It could depend on Ronaldo. If he left Madrid, I'm certain he would join PSG – and that would rule out them moving for Sturridge. But, whatever happens, the time is right for Daniel to move."
