Dirk Kuyt says the time with Liverpool was the best of his career.
The Dutchman was a hugely popular figure during his time at Anfield for his whole-hearted, hard-working approach and the admiration is mutual as the 36-year-old reveals in an online video.
Feyenoord man Kuyt, who is shown addressing someone called Steve in what appears to be a motivational message, declares: “You know I played for six years for Liverpool, it was the best time of my life.
“Last week we played against Manchester United. I think you know we beat them in Rotterdam 1-0, but unfortunately we lost the game 4-0 at Old Trafford.
“One thing happened during the game. 60,000 supporters shouted against me 'You Scouse b*****d.
“Normally when your rivals shout at you it's not the best thing that can happen to you but actually it made me proud because I felt proud to be named a Scouser – an adopted Scouser – because for me Scousers are good people; hard-working people, committed people and people who never give up."
