Liverpool hero Patrik Berger says Brendan Rodgers needs to dump Andy Carroll.

Berger wrote in the Daily Star Sunday: "One of the big decisions Rodgers has to make is what to do with Andy Carroll.

"Anyone can see Carroll hasn't really done the business that his price tag would seem to demand.

"I am not so sure he is a Liverpool type of player although of course he can be effective in the air, that's for sure.

"But Rodgers has shown at Swansea that he doesn't play football that way.

"He likes his team to keep the ball and work towards a goal-scoring opportunity rather than get it out wide then look for the big man.

"So he has a bit of a dilemma and I hear talk of possible loan moves, which might suit all parties."
