Liverpool have the inside running for Birmingham City defender Scott Dann.
Liverpool are turning to Dann having seemingly lost out in their attempts to land Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones to Manchester United.
It is believed Dann, 24, is desperate to stay in the Premier League and could represent value for money at around the £10million mark in light of the recent fees agreed for Jones and Jordan Henderson.
Arsenal are also thought to be in the running but as a lifelong Liverpool fan the sway of Anfield could work in Dalglish's favour.
