Liverpool great Gerrard: I wish I committed more in the classroom

Steven Gerrard admits he did not do enough at school to gain the education he would have liked.

The Liverpool legend, currently with LA Galaxy, recently told the MLS club's youth academy to make sure they pay attention and focus in school so it gives them something to fall back on if they fail to make it as a professional footballer.

"I wish my qualifications were better," the former Liverpool and England captain said.

"I wish I had another language to speak. When I think of education, I never put enough in, and thats a regret I have.

"From a football point of view, I've got no regrets …. but, I do actually wish that I committed more in the classroom.

"I wish I was a lot more brighter than I am now."
