Liverpool great Dalglish commits to Petrov's Celtic charity match

Kenny Dalglish has signed up for Stiliyan Petrov's #19 legend's charity match on September 8.

The Celtic and Liverpool legend will take charge of one of the two sides which will honour ex-Hoops and Aston Villa midfielder Petrov who was forced to retire from the game in May because of his fight with leukaemia.

Dalglish has joined current Celtic boss Neil Lennon, Manchester United great Roy Keane and ex-Celtic midfielder Lubo Moravcik, among others, for the event at Celtic Park and was delighted to be returning to the Glasgow institution.

"I think anybody that has worked with Stan for any length of time would want to come out and help him," he told the club's official website.

"To come here 19 years of age from your home country (of Bulgaria) and move to Glasgow must have been a big move for him but he was fantastic for us and was a really good guy.

"When someone who is a good person falls on a bit of bad news everyone rushes out to help him. It's an honour for me to come back and look after a team - I don´t think we will win but it´s the taking part that counts!"
