Liverpool great Case praises Southampton for hitting the ground running

Jimmy Case has heaped praise on the Southampton Football Club for the transformation they have made this season.

The Saints lost a number of key players in the summer including captain Adam Lallana, striker Rickie Lambert, young left-back Luke Shaw and central defender Dejan Lovren with the first three making their way to Liverpool.

Former Saints and Reds midfielder Case, who works on Liverpool games for BBC Radio Merseyside, has seen firsthand at Anfield that bringing in plenty of fresh faces is sometimes a difficult task which has prompted him to speak highly of new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman who has the south coast club sitting third on the Premier League table.

"Up at Liverpool they say they've got a few new players in and so they need to settle down," Case said.

"But I dispel that because I point the finger back at them, and say 'not everybody does and you can hit the ground running as Southampton have'.

"They've got their act together despite changing manager and so many players.

"I point to them as to what can be achieved.

"The likes of Sammy Lee down there and Koeman have got it spot on."
